As the title says. One of the new golden panchax killifish we purchased a couple months ago has a curved spine. Didn't notice this until just yesterday. It's swimming fine and acting totally normal, but I'm wondering if that's always going to be the case, or should I expect the poor little guy to eventually die b/c of it?
I got a photo of him

As I mentioned, he acts just like the other 2 in the tank. Swims just fine, eats like a pig, etc.

This fish should have been culled at the fry stage. I would have done.
But anyway it could be genetic or caused by rough handling methods when very young or some other anomaly.
If this species was exceptionally rare (which it is not) then there would be an argument for breeding from it.
Given the above factor and if your wishing to breed this species, I would desist from using that particular fish.

Oh no... I'm not planning on breeding it or anything like that. Even if the killifish do breed, there are enough fish in the tank to eat any fry that managed to hatch.
The fish looked fine when we bought them.. although I'm sure if I had looked hard enough I would've seen this problem though.
I don't plan on killing it. I just wanted to know if anyone has experience with this and if I should expect the bent spine to cause problems as it gets bigger.
