At present i'm in the process of putting together a small hospital/quarantine tank tank (only about 20L).

When i next do a partial water change in my (at present) main tank i intend to use the water from there for my hospital tank. I have also been running for about 4 weeks a second filter, along side my main filter, which i intend to transfer to the hospital tank, which brings me to my question(s).

1. By doing this (using cycled water and using an established filter) will this new tank be fully cycled or will it go through the whole process again :dunno:

and

2. If the tank remains empty for a period of time will it remain cycled with no fish in it :dunno:

Thanks

To answer your questions
1. Yes, the tank will be cycled or need very little time to adjust the nitrate level and it should be fish ready.

2. Once you move the filter if there are no fish in the tank you must add ammonia or you will loose the colony. HTH :)
