New Hood

well at about 6.00pm i started to get bored so i decided i was going to resize my hood

Basically I had a hood for a 24x12 but im going to plant/(breeding tank) my 24x8 (current hospital tank) so I needed another hood ive worked out I can fit the light I wont in it (interpet pc t5 36w) but I need to loose 4 inches about 4 inches of the hood is the lighting unit (you will see what I mean with the pictures) so I cut of the back (-2 inches) and i had to cut the feeding flap (-2 inches) so the flap is only about an inch and half wide however it will be easy enough to feed whatever fish go in it

I finished about 2 hours and just be letting the glue dry quickly

One question though
Should I spray it black or silver? (im thinking silver as my tv/dvd player ect is silver) however my 15 gallon tank is black so what colour would you say?

Not a bad idea at all... With the high price of hoods it's smart to make your own from an old one. I would keep it black and maybe just clean it up or even respray it.

its hard to find a nice(ish hood with a built in light for a tank this size

where i have cut and glued you can see the glue marks so it need to be resparyed etc

You're definately right, and unless you wanna build a canopy with and lights in it you will have a hard time spending little money.
