New Guinea Tree Python

i have been offered a hatchling for £200 was wondering if its a good deal?

are you a confident handler of snakes? and confident caring for them?

these snakes are NOT ideal for beginners, they can be quite aggressive and are very strong.

the price is very good but it may be being offered because the person is struggling to find homes suitable for these snakes that need specialist care and accommodation.

make sure they are definately selling you a tree python as the hatchlings change colour frequently when young and if you dont know your species well you may be conned into buying the wrong type.

a stunning snake but best kept in zoos or owned by pro's!

let us know what you decide!? :good:

Hatchlings are usually lemon yellow with broken stripes and spots of purple and brown, although golden or orange individuals may appear in the same clutch. In all cases, the color soon turns to green as snakes mature...

I agree with snoopyfrench...if you'd like to start with snakes try a cornsnake....they are small and fairly easy to care for. I had an albino one, sweetheart. I also had a ball python, snickers. The ball python was easy to care for as well.(or if you are experienced you can ignore this last bit of info! )

What spurred you into this cane, didn't know you were into reps?
I think it's a good price, never seen one before. The BRB's got for £200+ and they are semi-rare.
You'd need a good size set up to keep them, as they grow to around 6ft, and you would need to purchase a super fogger of similar (I have been using mine on my chinese water dragon for 2 years, great thing to have) looking in the area of £300 + for a well kitted out vivarium.
You'll have your hands full taming it, they say they can be quite docile if not provoked, but wild caught ones are aggressive.

Looking at previous ones for sale they usually go for near to double.
