New Growth?

hello all

iv got a new growth on a mushroom coral i have (the purple bit on the side) u can see it started 2 spread to the rock next 2 it but i parted it..

is this normal growth or should i remove it? this has been growing for a month or so

any info would be great

I would say it's up to you. Do you want it to spread? If not, clean it up and if so, let it grow :good: I don't know if it can do harm to things close to it, though. I don't know if it's a stinging one or not. I would guess not, but I'm not well versed on coral yet :)

I would say its perfectly normal Mushrooms (Coral Anemones) spread/divide by different natural methods two of the most common ones are "Pedal Laceration and longitudinal fission" I think yours is the latter. Dont worry the colony is growing. Just make sure it doesn't come into contact with a more aggressive coral species.

Looks like a sponge or tunicate. These are beneficial organisms although sometimes their growth rates are not desireable...
