Purchased 6 Glowlight Tetras today for a community tank.
I put them in the tank without the light on and let them settle.
After 1hr 30mins I switched the light on and to my horror noticed that 3 of them were missing dorsal fins, only 1 had a white edge to the fin, and others had their rear fins partilly missing.

Is there a chance that they've been nibbled or have I introduced infected fish to my tank?

If it is fin rot how contagious is it to the rest of the community?

What's the best form of treatment?

Should I go bak to the pet shop on Monday?

Fin Rot is almost always bacterial, and a "dirty tank" syndrome. If you have a good clean tank, then it is unlikely that it will spread, but if you can isolate the fish it is better for the other tank inhabitants, and easier to treat. Any of the common antibacterial treatments will clear it up. The excetion is if the "rot" has actually reached the body when ulcers can develop - at this point even with the best treatment, the outlook is pretty grim.

Thanks, is that grim for the individual fish or the community.

Will the fins grow back?

I can't seperate them, if I think my tank is a clean and healthy enviroment will it clear on it's own or should I still buy a treatment?

Yes the fins will grow back. I had the same problem when I rescued 3 glow lights from an aggressive tank in Walmart. Most of their tails were chewed to the body, but with water changes, and Melafix(not at full dose) they healed rapidly, within 2 weeks. I found Melafix also fixed my cories fins too.
