New garden pond

Hi.Have now filled new pond with water.Added a water "de-chlorinator" my question is.......do you have to "cycle" the pond first before you begin to add fish?
Going to start adding some plants tomorrow,but just wondered if you go through the same sort of cycling process as i have with my tropical tank

id personaly cycle the pond for about a week then add the fish slowly ,i dont mean in slow motion but a few at a time sos to allow the water time to adjust,on the subject of plants id like a few recomendations myself ,i like the flag iris but also want a suitable lilly

Not sure what our lillies are ,ones white,others yellow,start them on your first shelf and as the leaves reach water level move them down to next shelf ,carry on till they r at the bottom.We do that every year and they come out lovely

ive started a seperate thread for this but the pump is going at the lowest level so i need stuff for say about 2ft deep
