Under the Forum "Aquarium Forums" I propose a new folder titled "Members Aquarium/Tank Journals".

It would be a good forum for the now countless "journals" litering the board to be placed.

I think the majority of users would post there, leaving it active and well used.

What is your opinion on such a folder? It would be good to hear from you! Thanks!

Ben

Sounds like a good way to consolidate them to one area. It would also show the importance of keeping a journal or log of tank activities. Once you get rolling with multiple tanks, it's nearly impossible to commit everything to memory. It also helps when you need to back track trying to diagnose a problem, or remember exactly what you did some time ago to solve a given situation. I would be lost without my non-computerized fishroom log book.

I would imagine the next thing asked for would be that the new forum be split up into subject areas so that the people interested in planted tank journals did not have to wade through threads about cichlids, catfish or breeding gobies for example.

We could try to enforce some kind of naming convention in a sticky, but who reads those.

I'll post a link to this on the mod board, but it would be up to William ultimately.

Thanks all for your input.

That would be greatly appreciated Lateral Line. Thankyou! :)

I'd use it.
But what about all the nano tank journals? And betta breeding?
Who ever is going to have to move all those, have fun! ;)

great idea but what about an open pinned thread on each board for journals then all the journals in each section would be relevant to that bit. they would stay in the forums they are already in it would just be much easier to find them.

may take too much admin time to do though, just a thought

probably a good idea for me, seeing as how I tend to ramble and get way off topic, and maybe I could ramble about all my different tanks all in 1 spot, but then if I had specific questions, I might still have to separate them out if i really expected answers and all. Then again, if it was topic based, I'm not sure what that would do for my rambling tendencies, and by the way, I don't think I've seen any opinions on moving my loaches to the comunity, or a great consensus on whether frogs eat fry, and aren't hatchets just great?, but I think i only have one left now. But the shrimp are doing great I think I want them everywhere, but I;ve hardly even talked about my cats yet, the non aquatic ones , i mean, even though the aquatic ones are cool too, including Kitty the shubunkin I wonder what would happen if I started a topic all about funnelfoot observations. Maybe that could go in the journal section. I have included fish and tank info in personal journals at home, but public rambling is kinda fun too. i have a box of index cards with portraits of some of my fish, organized by where they live with a history section, but I don't keep up with stuff real great.
hmmm.... Maybe some day i'll just write a book or something.
