got myself a couple new fish, one being an albino bichir, and i like him. very active, fits in well in my 125. it absolutly love shrimp pellets (thats what we were feeding him in the shop as well). i payed about 20 for him, and i would say its a good 3.5 inches. i cant wait till he gets huge! ive read up quite a bit on them, but i was wondering if anyone had and personal experiences with this fish. thanks

plecoguy....

The vast majority of albino bichirs on the market are Polypterus senegalus. Caring for the albino variety is no different than caring for their normally-colored bretheren. They are hardy, tolerant fish that will eat practically anything 'meaty'. They are also escape artists...so keep your tank tightly covered.

I wrote an article on Polypterus senegalus that might give you a little more insight into your new fish. You can access the article here:

Congratulations on your new fish!

in addition to fruitbats comment i think you will need something more meaty and with more protien than shrimp pellets. i feed mine brine shrimp, beef heart, and the occasional tuffy although feeders arent completely legal in the UK

i dotn only feed shrimp pellets, lol. i wish feeding was that cheap. i was just sayin thats what he goes for first everytime. he chews on the pellet until its soft, then eats it, kinda funny to watch.
