I have two Betta fish, one i got from a now ex boyfriend, and the other i just bought over the weekend. This is the first fish i have bought from the pet store, and i notice that it's not eating, is this normal?

If it's brand new it may not eat for the first days. Just like in any animal, with a big change they get stressed out. And eventually he will begin eating again.

bettas usually dont eat for afew days as theyre a little stressed an shocked. They often sit on the bottom too which is normal for the first few days.He should eat soon or try and tempt him with some bloodowrm that usually helps!

thank you very much, i notice now he is putting food in his mouth and spitting it out, but before he puts it in, it looks like he yawns, which i think is not right for a fish to do?

Try to cut the food in half. My betta wouldn't eat either then I cut the pellets in half, and he eat them right up.

I would recommend talking to the store you got him from to discover what they fed him....then get soe of that and try that...then gradually wean him onto the food you want to give him by mixing the foods together as such....if you want more details on how to do this just ask!
Keep us up-to-date on how he progresses.....
Continuously check your water stats as well to ensure they are safe for him as if not that will stress him out more.
