New Fish To Go With Current?

Hey guys im planing on getting new fish tomorrow. Only problem is i don't know what to get. So far i have 5 Bronze corys, 2 Bristlenose and 4 zebra danios. I have lost several fish last week.

I have a 110L tank what other fish could i get?

1 of 3 things im guessing. listed below. But after doing another 50% water change day later adding double the dechlorinator and using cold water heated by a heater. Everything back to normal.

1. Stress from a 50% water change
2. Something in the boiler as i used the hot water tap.(water was slightly cloudy)
3. Something in the water it self.

How long has the tank been set up? What are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph readings?

Tanks been up for about 8 months. p.h. 7 Ammonia 0 Nitrate 0 Nitrite 0.

How did you cycle it?

A cycled tank would normally have a nitrAte reading.

What test kit do you have?

Api freshwater test kit. Normally been acurate.

Ill test Nitrate again now see what it comes back with.

Were the fish that died the 1s that were used for the cycle? Could they have had ammonia poisoning. Or it could be the water round here lol

It was an angel fish i had about 3-4 months and a ruby shark i had same time and some other fish. Im 99 percent sure it was caused by the water change. All my fish are back to normal now.

ok Nitrate was 5.0 i also have a crap load of plants in my tank and some agrivating algae that wont go No matter how hard i scrub.

If your tank cycled with fish in it, they may be dying from delayed ammonia poisoning and damage.

Shake the nitrate test solution like a mad thing first, it settles and gives inaccurate results.

Ok, fish to add. Tank seems to be lacking a shoal of something in the middle.

The tank was cycled using Guppys a long time back. I give those fish away?

yeah shaken it good its still at 10. Im gona use my mothers test kit see if i get different reading

testing nitrate is tough. If you don't have ammonia or nitrite, you're fine. The nitrate test liquids have a low shelf life and the second bottle needs a really really good shaking. But don't worry about it if your tank has been running for that long and you rinse your filter pads correctly (shaking them in old tank water, do NOT run the pads under tap.)

I'd take back the zebra danios. they need to be in a bigger group and they prefer 4 feet of swimming space. Try for some harlequin rasboras or something of that sort instead. What are your tank dimensions? It seems like having 2 Bn plecs rather than one is kinda over kill. They're messy fish, without a doubt, and they can get significantly large.

Might've been useful to mention you gave away the fish you cycled with, the posts read like you cycled the tank with your current fish which are now dying.

Agree with removing the danios - aside from needing a longer tank, these are also temperate fish from cooler waters.

Yeah ill be giving them away soon to my brother. I did have more but they died last week
tank dimension 31.4″ x 17.7″ x 14.2

I do like Rasboras.

Yeah they are really messy have 1 male 1 female.

I do 50% water changes pretty regularly with my 20g, never had any problems with it, unless you dumped it all in too fast. If you put your hand in front of the water flow, it will sort of disperse the current it makes when you empty the water into the tank, which will keep it from tossing fish around.

Make sure when you do larger water changes like that, that the temperature, ph, and hardness is similar or equal to the water in the tank, otherwise it's possible to put your fish into shock.

I would honestly take one back. The amount of waist they produce does more harm than the good they do by cleaning algae.
