I have a brand new 48"x24"x18" tank made for me by a company with a good reputation, i cant get hold of them now and they did say to leave it for some days before filling, i cant remember whether they said 2,3 or 4 days.

The sealant they used is black but i dont know the same of the sealant

The tank was definitly MADE on Tuesday this week (in the afternoon from what i remember him telling me). I got it delivered first thing Weds morning.

Obviously i could play it safe and just leave it for a good few days but i have fish in buckets due to a smashed tank.

I was hoping to fill this new tank on Friday late evening. That would mean about 72-80 hours since the tank was made.

So, as its been 72-80 hrs do you reckon its as ready as it will ever be?

I know most sealants i have used in the past advise 48 hrs.

Really would like some advice, thanks

Is the sealant silicon ? ie can you press it with your finger and its "rubbery" ? If so, you should be fine now.

Yes it seems just like the normal silicone i have used before to repair cracked tanks, except this one is black, and yes its definitly "rubbery" to touch, so you think 48 hrs is ample time then?

I'm sure 48hrs is fine... but just to "insure" yourself, I would give the builders a ring and ask again... But Ive never waited longer, and all the sites with plans seem to like 24-48 hrs. :good:
