I'm partial to Gouramis. I have a Powder Blue Gourami and a Moonlight Gourami and they are both my favorites. They are constantly swimming back and forth and keeping things lively. And they are the nicest, most graceful fish we have in our tank and although can be kept in groups, prefer to be alone.

And they're cute...

(Moonlight Gouramis grow to about 4-5", Powder Blue are usually under 3")

Pricing - they're on the cheaper end. I don't think either of them are over $5, or at least close.

They are both VERY nice and peaceful - they're really sweet. They play with the other fish, they always try to school with our corys or anyone else that happens to be playing.

They powder blue is cuter (IMO) but something about the moonlight is so interesting. His body is really sleek and shiney and he's really graceful.

For your size tank, you might be better off with the powder blue. But I love them both!

It took our powder blue a good 3 days to completely "open up" - even though he was the biggest fish in the tank right when we got him, he was very shy and kept to himself for awhile. Now he's all over the place!

Is your plec a common by any chance? Here's a link - http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loric...posarc/88_f.php

If so I am sorry but he will get way too big for that tank, and quickly. You'll have to find out what kind it is if it's not a common because many plecs get to quite big and I would say that even some of the smallest would be too big for a 10gall.

yea, he kinda looks like that, but a lot smaller, he hasnt grown much, ive had him for a month
If he's a common you'll have a big guy on your hands!! They are known to get to 15"+!! If he's grown in a month I'd say it won't be long until he's too big for your tank.

Do you have plans to upgrade at all?

i said he hasnt grown much in a month, and yes i am planning to get a tank from 55gal to 75 gal in the next 3 months
Oh I thought by "he hasn't grown much" you meant that he had at least grown a little or you would have said 'he hasn't grown'?

:/

If he's in a 55 that should be ok for a bit at least. I would never keep one so I am not sure how mich room people think they need. They don't do much moving about but the produce a lot of waste so you'll need good filtration.

Maybe post in the catfish section about how much room they need.
