I put some rummy noses into my tank on Saturday. Thing is, they aren't eating. They aren't even coming up to eat. I put some Lemon Tetras in a couple weeks ago and for a couple days they just spit out what I was giving them, but at least they were trying (they eventually did start eating the food). What worries my is these rummy noses aren't even trying to eat. So it's been 3+ days and they aren't eating yet.

Otherwise they seem fine. Their noses are nice and red, they shoal around nicely with the Lemons. Is this something to worry about or will they come around? I feed the tank regular flake food and bloodworms.

29 USG tank.
6 Lemons.
6 rummy-noses.
2 corys.
Stats on Sunday were 0, 0, 10, 7.6ph.

Thanks,
Karl

hi we have had rummys for about 2 yrs & occasionally they will come up for flake but they seem to prefer to get it as it sinks. ours also love nibbling on catfish & algae tablets and go mad for fresh (frozen) bloodworm & mosquito larvae - worth trying these other foods if your worried, but im sure if they were hungry they would go for whatever you've got. :)

I find that rummynose will not come to the top of the tank for food.Mine stay in the bottom 3rd of the tank and eat the flakes etc when the food reaches them.I know they are a fussy fish and do take a while to settle in a new tank so they are maybe just getting acclimatised.

i had three rummy-nose tetra who lived just above my corydoras at the bottom of my 120l tank they were always very shy and had the same problem as you have. But i have removed a shoal of glowlight tetra which were out-competing the rummys' for food. i then added another two rummy nose tetras to the shoal, they all automtically became more confident and now every feeding time it is the rummy-noses' who are the most competitive for the flakes and bloodworms! i also tried filling a saucer with tank water and putting in some flakes until they became swollen and sunk. then i tipped the fakes into the tank. now with the flakes sinking and being softer the rummy-noses had a better chance to get a good feed. they are now 6cm submarine-shaped mosters! good luck. :D
