New Fish, Id?

okay i bought some loaches labeled: Twinbanded loach
well, i thought, that helps
but they were sooo cute, i just had to buy them (i also have a snail infestation at the moment)

theyre yellow like zebra loaches but they have stripes in sets 2 which are quite broad about 6 sets down the side, it said they grew to 3inches

i think they may be Botia rostrata could anyone varify that a Twinbanded loach is a rostrata? thanks

are often called
two stripe loach; sergent major loach; twinbanded loach and many many more.

Here is a picture of my rostrata for reference. I bought them as queen loaches, but I'm sure thats not what they are as that refers to dario and they are obviously not that! I think rostrata is probably right with these.

These were taken a few months ago and they are even cuter now. I just don't have time to take a better one ATM.

When trying to ID your loach, pay attention to the stripes on the head, the shape of the head (long, blunt, rounded, etc.) Pay attention to the stripes on the caudal. Notice these have two sets of stripes on the outer part of the tail. Another thing that can help is the stripes on the dorsal. Keep in mind that mine are young and the markings should change when they get older.

where did you get them?? we had 2 but lost 1 (in my CO2 overdosing incident) and would like another to keep this one company...

we bought them as "ladder loaches"
