Hello All,
My name is Krissy and I just started my first tropical fish tank this year. I can not tell you how much I love this new found hobby and my new pets. I have a 45 gallon tank and I spend a ton of time watching and keeping my tank in perfect condition for my fish. I got so into my fish tank I am planning to get a 145 gallon for next year since I know some(most) of my fish need that space as they get older.

Here are my specs:
45 gallon
Nitrites = 0
Ammonia = 0
Ph = 7.1
Temp = 82 degrees

Fish(all my fish were purchased as babies):
1 Fire Eel(who I hand feed)
1 Royal Pleco
1 Pictus Catfish
1 FlagFin Prochilodus
2 Marbled Angels
3 Bala Sharks
3 Clown Loaches

I think thats about it on my tank for now and it's wonderful to see so many other people with the same hobby and hopefully I can give back to the community and learn some new things about keeping tropical fish :)

Welcome!

This is a great hobby, and you will find yourself addicted in no time.
One bit of advice, make researching as much of an addiction as fishkeeping. This forum is great for this, and there are also, books, and many sites regarding fish. You'll grow wiser, for the benefit of you and your fish, and you'll enjoy it even more!
So: Ask away! There's lots of knwledgeable people here, only too happy to help out! :)

:hi:

Thank you for the warm welcomes :D Its just so nice to see others interested in fish as much as I have become. I have some extra pepsi if anyones interested ;p heh

That is really cool with all you have it sounds likeyou'll know more than alot of us in no time. Maybe you can answer some questions for me about the fire eel. I have hada tire track eel, but it jumped out of the tank somhow. That was the eel I thought about getting, but i on't know anything about it. You will be addicted to this hobby in no time. I just started about a year and a half ago. Now I have a 29 gallon and some real cool fish.

Jon

Heya Guys Thanks again for more welcomes, have some pepsi :p

Fishy Jon- I have had my fire eel for about 8 months now. I purchased him as a baby and he too jumped out of the tank(but at the fish store) I made sure I had a glass cover on my tank before I brought him home so it wouldn't happen. I have two siamese kitties that would surely find him delicious-I would cry!

Anyways, I was told that it would take a couple weeks to get him to eat out of my hand but he did the second day I had him. I feed him bloodworms once a day which I buy frozen and I let them defrost in a little bit of warm water before attempting to feed him. I have a bunch of hiding places for him because eels like to hide most of the time. Around 11pm he always comes out and swims around. He is the nicest guy in the tank. I keep the tank temp at 82 which they told me to do, so I am not too sure if its too warm for him. He seems to be fine. I also do a partial water change once a week and clean the gravel twice a month. He tends to burrow through the gravel alot! Also he always likes to arrange the tank his way, meaning everytime I bury the fake plants within a hour of doing it hes pushing them up :) I think he is a very easy guy to take care of, as long as you pay attention to him. Also because I hand feed him, my angels, balas, flagfin and rainbow shark eat out of my hand now :) Its really cool. Sorry about the long post
Heres a pic of Mr.Eel, the flash sucks but its one of the best I have:

I've been experimenting with pictures, and I finally decided to change the flash for heavy lighting, because of the reflection. I tried deflecting at a 45 deg. angle, but the pics came out weird.

Hey cheirodon :D I also tried high light without the flash and numerous angles but I end up with so many pics of the fish looking blurry because my digital camera isn't the greatest and takes a second to take a picture. I really would love to get a 5 megapixal and get rid of this one(which has no good zoom whatsoever) Some of the pictures on this forum people take are so awesome. Can you or anyone suggest/list what kind of cameras people use to take those great pics :) I have an old 1984 pentax with a 200mm zoom but it needs repairs... it would just be worth it to buy one of these new ones.. it would be greatly appreciated and cool to know

I will post a topic regarding picture taking, to see what we can learn from our community.
I'll let you know where I Post it
