Just ordered my new eheim classic 2213 filter , i have a juwel rio 125 with the internal filter & a fluval 2 . I think BLOO had a link on how to remove the internal juwel filter , any one know where it is ???

also ordered a new visitherm heater , will i need a guard for it , if so , any ideas where i can get one ?????

also , how long will i need to run it alongside the internal filter , before i can take the internal one away ?

If the media will fit, you could transfer some of the media from your old filter to the new one when you swap them over. Keeping some of the bacteria colony. Then swap the old for the rest of the new that came with your eheim after a couple of weeks.

Are these filters not easily taken out. My fluval 2 just sticks to the side of the tank. What tank have you got. I'm guessing it's systemised enough to have a built in filter so possibly an Aqua One or similar?

I have a Juwel rio 125 & it has an internal filter , but the sponges are easily removed , wont know untiol i get the new filter about size though , thanks though :)

was about to post something similar so will bump this instead.
i have juwel trigon 190, and have considered an external filter
any recommendations?
how easy is it to remove the juwel filter housing?
having never seen an external in action what will i see in the tank? a draw tube and return tube? how and where shoud these be positioned?

cheers

to jasper, from what i gather most external filters have a compartmentalised media housing, if your existing media doesnt fit directly, if a sponge/foam type just cut it up and place in middle of media housing along with as much new media as will fit

Thanks Andy . bloo posted a link ages ago about how to remove an existing internal filter ( juwel ) but i can't find it . I have pm'd her but she has not replied yet .........she might be on holiday or something .

I got The Eheim classic 2213 but there are tons of makes / models , most people seem to reccommend the Eheim range .

i think i read that post the other night
cant find it again now, but its all simple, use a long thin strong sharp blade, there are 4 blobs of 'glue' holding the filter box on, one in each corner. slice through the top ones, you may be lucky and it comes away nice and easy, slice through bottom if needed scrape or scrub remaining fixant off glass hey presto

oh and watch out for all the muck falling out :)

To remove the internal Juwel Filter you ned a craft knife and saw through the silicon, making sure not to catch the seal on the glass. do the 2 nearest ones, then gently lift the filter box out until you can reach the final 2. The middle is a sucker.

And as for a heater cover.......
