Hi,

Ive just bought a new internal filter. Its an interpet IPF duo sponge filter.

I am concerned about the noise it makes, are all filters meant to be noisy? I can hear the humming/droaning/vibrating type of noise in other rooms, even with all the doors to the rooms closed?

Is this normal? If not what can i do to fix the noise. Its really annoying and i wont be abloe to sleep in my room.

The manual doesnt give any details on stopping the noise, please help

Thanks.

Well since I don't own that filter I cannot give you filter specific details. If it uses an air pump you can replace that with a quieter one (Rena is my favorite). If not then I don't see what else you can do. I used to have an internal filter that was really noisy but I tossed it and bought an AquaClear which hangs off the back of my tank. It is super quiet and all you hear is the water trickleing back into the tank. They also have very good prices. More info on AquaClear is below if you're interested...

* AquaClear changed their model names. The old names are the ones to the left. The new names are the ones in parantases.*

I finally managed to fix it and now it runs really silently. :)

All i did was to hit it off the side of the tank a few times, and a whole load of air bubbles came up, its been silent ever since.
