So after the advice of a few members I decided to upgrade me external filter. I was running the APS 1000 LPH but it wasn't really upto the job do I went for the APS 2000 LPH

The new one is up and running but it seems to be very noisy, is this the case with a new filter? I cant remember my old one being like this. It sounds like the canister isn't quite full so you can hear the water inside. Heres a video of what I mean.

I agree, it does sound not full. Have you tried pushing down the primer plunger? That may get rid of the air.

I have the 1400lph version that is very quiet unless some air gets sucked in.

I don't know this filter but try giving it a good shake. Even tilt it on its side to get the air shifted.
Maybe as you suggested trapped air.

Yeah think it must be the air it's been running for about 20 mins and has started to quitened down its really tight in the cupboard and the pipes are stretched to there max so it's been a case of rocking as much as possible with the room available.

Good stuff. Nothing is ever straight forward.
