I no longer look at the L.R at night with a torch as much now, although i still do, not nearly for as long!! :*) , no, my new hobby is looking at all the life in the sump!, as its lit 24hrs, the life is always there, not running off like they do when in the light on the L.R. I just lie there and look for ages!. Theres some very wonderful and weird stuff, but all minute, really tiny!!!, snails, some slug like creatues that glide very fast on the glass, some transparent spider looking things, other mite looking things that jump from place to place across the glass, and two tiny transparent mantis looking thigs that sit on top of a leaf on the micro algea, just above the MM, that just sit/stand ther waving around in the current then strike out every now and again, clean themselves then wave around again, ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING :*) :D :D ,
Leon.

When the eco system kicks in and all this tiny life errups its a sign if a well run tank! Good work and best of luck with it in the future :D

Ther small slug like things that move like lightening are highly likely to be Stomatella Snails. They look like they have no shell ut on closer inspection they have a shell the same colour as teir bodies and the same shape as a fingernaiuls (very flat). These are great additions and often appear on live rock etc. they wil work very hard at cleaning up and will even breed if conditions are right. :D

this is one of the reasons i want a clear sump (rather than using a plastic tub)

how have you got your sump setup, as i'm looking for ideas at the moment. :)
