NEW CT FEMALE!

I just got a delta tail not doin so hot either, I think he might have a bad swim bladdar too. I've been feeding him on mostly bloodworms and he's been doin better--not good yet, but definatly better. I also put some stress coat and salt in to see if that helps.

there are 2 opititons you can do your lfs has a 24 hour garentee u cud take it bk 2 the shop or u can spend a little bit of cash on some swimmblader treatmant which will do the job

I bought a doubletail with the same problem. He's all better now.

I simply fasted him for a day or so, then I gave him a cooked pea (removed shell). The next day I started feeding him Hikari Bio-Gold pellets. An excess of food will NOT help the swim bladder. I gave him ONE soaked (easier to swallow/digest) pellet each day, for a couple of days. Now, I give him two pellets (pre-soaked) during each feeding time. I haven't noticed any problems!

It took about 3-4 days before he was back to normal. Just be patient and don't overfeed!

Edited to add: The LFS that I purchased him from was feeding their bettas brine shrimp. That seems to be the biggest problem in terms of swim bladder. Many breeders stopped feeding their fry brine shrimp, because they were having swim bladder problems. If your betta already has a problem, then I suggest you stay away from brine shrimp.

Your LFS may have some treatment, but it's difficult to determine exactly what caused the problem. How can you treat something when you don't know what caused it? :dunno: It wouldn't hurt to ask your LFS about treatment. My LFS didn't know what to recommend, so I did it successfully on my own.
