i got 3 peppered cories today however they dont seem to be shoaling together.

is this normal when becoming familiar with the new home or is it due to them being nocturnal?

Hi silvershark :)

Congratulations on the new corys! You will soon come to love them!

It's not unusual for them to take a little while to get used to their new home and begin acting normally. This is the first time they have been separated from their brothers and sisters too, and they might be frightened and shy.

Do you have a little cave for them to go in?

there is plenty of hiding places for them, plants, bogwood etc, however, i have two babies and one adult, the babies are all over the place, checking out the new home etc, but dont seem to wanna socialise with the adult. is this expected? or will they get along fine? they all came from the same tank in the lfs...

Hi silvershark :)

I think everything will be OK in the long run. If you have a mature cory and it appears to be in good health, it's probably just a little case of a "generation gap" going on.

Young corys are usually quite a bit more active than the adults are. They will play frequently, while the adults will spend a greater proportion of their time looking for food and just sitting. This is fine.

You might want to get another adult if you feel that the one you have needs a companion with more similar activities. Eventually, however, the little ones will mature and slow down like the adult. :D
