Hi,

I just got some corals today and am acclimatizing them at the moment. Green star polyps, sarcophyton, capnella, zoa frag. In at least one of the bags there is something swimming around....light brown, about 3/4" long...looks kind of like a shrimp and swims in vertical circles. It also hides in the live rock attached to the capnella when I move the bag around.

I don't have a quarantine tank and I don't want to just put them in my tank when they are finished acclimatizing. Also, a friend took my camera on holiday, so I can't even take a picture.

Any suggestions? Should I do a freshwater dip on each of them before putting them in the tank?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi SH,

Well, I decided to go the dip route to be safe. Immediately after I put them in the fresh water, I ended up with 2 hitchhikers in the bowl. One was a small yellow worm of some type...smooth, not a bristleworm. The other....wasn't a bristleworm either...it looked like an amphipod. It was about 1 cm long. Guess he was a bit magnified in the bag. Oh well, better safe than sorry. I hope the corals didn't disagree with the dip too much. They are all still retracted, so I'll see what happens tomorrow.
