I just got a new Colt Coral. It's already decently sized, I was wondering if it would harm my leather mushroom if i put them too close? I'm still acclimating it so I can put it somewhere else if they won't get along

yep! colts carry a real powerful sting.
Dont let it touch any other coral in your tank.

Thanks Navarre. I asked the guy at the LFS if it would sting the fish or my mushroom, but i don't think he heard me mention the mushroom. He just went into saying that clowns have been known to host it... :*)

might be psychological, buy my hand feels funny after touching it :p Anyway, real quick if i may Navarre, the Colt is kinda just laying over for the most part, will it stand up when it starts getting more comfortable, or is it somehow in too strong a current in the middle of the tank? Or should I move things around and find somewhere with less flow? Thanks man

Yes!
A colt will act like you killed it if you touch it.

My Green Nepthea acts much the same. It will usually be fine the next day.

GL

PS. They are slimy buggers aren't they?? :D

Hey!!! I just got a colt coral too !!! Good to hear mine is acting similarly to yours. I was wondering if I needed to move it to a different part of my tank as well. I've been worried about it almost lying down.

J-money, were your hands feeling acidity, tingly like....mine were. I checked my PH, thinking that might be the issue. Everything check out normal.

Keep me posted on your colts behav.

I noticed mine perked up after feeding with Phytoplankton.

Good luck!

Kim

Yeah, my hands felt tingly for about a half hour to 45minutes after I touched it. I'll have to try feeding it the phytoplankton. I almost got one of those small bottle of cyclopeze at petsinc, but it was $25 and it didn't look like it would last too long. I'll have to hold out for the tins everyone talk about, have you seen those around the valley?

Also, anyone know if the freeze dried cyclopeze is at least half as good as the frozen?

Yeah, I got the small pump of cyclopeze.
FIsh Guy wasn't sure about the tub of the stuff, guess i'm gonna have to check around. I'm warey about buying perishable stuff online....probably cause i've never done it before.

The freeze dried is better than the frozen IME. I have used both, and the frozen stuff just doesn't last as long.

GL

I have both and I agree with GL, the freeeze dried lasts many many times longer and does an equally (if not better job) than the frozen gel.

THe last lot was from my LFS but before that i purchased online. MY lfs simply would not stock it until i ordered some and showed them it and the difference it makes. now they keep it in regular order and feed their entire stock with it!

The tin of freeze dried is air tight and you have to peel the tin cover off like peeling sardines. once this is done you can simply replace the plastic lid supplied to keep it fresh.

Purchasing this product in freeze dried form online would not pose a concern for me.

Do you get it at your LFS or online????
I noticed PetsInc had 2 different types of the FreezeDried cyclopeze, I just didn't get any cuz I didn't think freeze dried was as good :*)
