Hello all, Im a new comer to the world of fish from england, just got my first tank setup with a few plants and some nice smooth pebbles found on the beach, my water reads a PH of 7 and nitrites reading 0 at the moment.

been going a week and a half now and im ready to add some fish, i added 3 small tetras after 5 days and they are living it up in my bright tank :D

i found thsi forum and think i will gain a lot of knowledge from here, and im after a pretty siamese fighter (betta as you call them)

not sure what else to get but all will fall together in time

:hi:

That's great! :D Just a suggestion, since you've started adding the fish and plants. Read the threads in the tetra and "how does your garden grow" sections. There you'll find basic care for your tank. Also, once your tetras are adjusted, add a few more. They're really fun to watch and love being in groups of at least 4...

Just some info: Add your tank size, fish (types and names), etc. under your sig. That way we won't have to ask you how big your tank is and how many fish you can put in it. :D (Pinned thread being set up for this purpose, I hope... :D )

hiya :welcome: to the forum u will find loads of nice ppl here, who have got loads of handy tips stick around an pull up a chair :)

Dawn xx

That's cool. You can definitely place more tetras in. If the betta is going to go in there, you might want to reconsider... (check out why in the betta and gourami section. :D

Yes, i think im going to put a female betta in my community tank :)

Hopefully she will be ok

im sorry to inform you of this but male betta usually kill there mates after sex, they kind of squeeze the eggs out of her in a bubble nest that the male builds.its quite brutal to do to your lover after sex.
the females are not very colorful either.i have a book that says the black betta's are the rarest color amazingly they have lungs that can breathe air.there special needs are: plants and ive also seen people raise them in ponds will great sucess if they have enough space they won't fight

yea i knew that the male would kill the female after mating.

i will have to try a male in the community tank then, but if it doesnt work i can take him out.

:)
