I am going to buy a new camera during the boxing day sales.
I am going back and forth between the Nikon D40 and D40X.
Is there much of a difference between the 2 cameras?
Thanks in advance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only difference is that the D40x has a few more megapixels, something like 6.5 rather than 6.1. But, I'm not 100% sure.

The D40X has 10 megapixels as compared to the D40's 6 megapixels. Both will make equally beautiful pictures when you learn how to use them properly, the only real difference is that the D40x will make a picture that can be enlarged more than the D40. This is the main advantage to having 10 megapixels rather than 6.

You do know that with the D40 and D40x you have to use AF-S lenses right? It's not that big of a deal except they are more expensive. Pentax also makes some real stunner DSLR's in this price range that I think are just a little better, but that's what I use so I'm a bit biased!
