So, recently my two male bettas have passed on. One was due to an accident, the other due to dropsy. Unfortunately, after the initial diagnosis on both boys, there was nothing I could really do. Their tank has sat still running, but devoid of fish since their passing, with me being unable to bring myself to purchase new boys.
I came home from university this weekend to visit my family, and figured on my way into town I'd stop into a local pet store that I used to frequent which has since switched management.
Imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw a brand new fresh crop of male Bettas (and some gorgeous females!)
Unfortnuately, the females were all too small to go into my sorority, my girls would chew them to pieces! One of the females there was a vibrant pastel-purple with flowing fins. Gorgeous fish, definitely female, but had the fins of a juvenille male betta.
*****EDIT: After kicking myself all afternoon/evening yesterday for not purchasing the pastel-purple female, i went back to buy her today. She's definitely a female, with the short ?ventral? fins and egg-spot. She's sitting in her cup waiting to go home with me this afternoon and be placed in the sorority.***
I passed over the females... too small for my sorority, and allowed myself to check out the males... I ended up leaving with 2. They had some GORGEOUS colours, including a bright gold crown-tail male (who I ended up not getting).
I left with these two, who are as of yet un-named. The first, is a white-body colour, with a pastel rainbow shining through, and blue translucent fins. The second, a purple male with yellow through his fins, who I suspect is called "mustard gas" but not entirely positive on that. I'm looking for ID's on betta colour type and tail type on these two. The tails look too big to be VT's (though thats what he charged me for them). I'm suspecting that they're either Delta's, SD's or Half-Moons.

I'll be keeping them in these cups for the next 24 hours, and then putting them in their new home on Sunday night! I'll post pictures of them in their new environment when they get there.
I apologize for the crummy pix, taken on a cell camera on fish that were VERY restless.
