New Black skirts gotta cut!

Ok i got a black skirt today and hes gotta cut and his gills are showing. It probably looks worse than it is but a big section of his gill area is all read and the outer scales are whatever skin is missing. I already added a small amount of salt but are there any treatment i could use.

Try to keep water as pure and good quality as you only can. Change some water daily and before putting it into the tank, use water conditioners.

pH should be 7 or under. (unfertilized turf would be good too. Turf contains some stuff which work like natural antibiotic somehow. Don't really know... It's important you use only turf which is natural, without any fertilizers at all.)
