If you do large water changes, it can adversely affect fish directly. On small water changes, people get away with 10% or so daily water changes without dechlorinating. I fail on the conservative side and figure the dechlorinator is cheap insurance.
To do a water change on my 120 gallon tank, about 450 litres, I use a simple 5 gallon bucket. I remove 4 or 5 buckets of water with my gravel cleaner and pour back the same number plus an added bucket full for evaporation. I lose at least 5 gallons a week from a tank that size. The big tank can take 30 minutes or more for a water change. All the rest of my tanks take far less time to complete.
 
Just to add in, i also use a hose attached to my electric shower, my 300L is less hassle than my old 180L
 
That's encouraging. Thanks. i haven't got a direct feed electric shower. My lfs man who I do rate, says it wouldn't be advisable to use water from my tank fed shower.

why not , as long as you dechlorinate and the temperature is right then there should be no reason .....
