So I went garage/yard saleing Saturday morning, and I found this large glass fish bowl, it came with a bag of gravel and a plant. Its very shallow (perfect for a betta!) and holds 2 gallons, got it for $3. So then we went to a petstore thats out of town a little bit (well, its only 10 minutes away, but thats considered out of town here) and they had 2 imbellis AND a doubletail! One imbellis was a black copper, he didn't look too exciting, he was very pretty though! The other one had a bunch of colors, can't really remember what, but he was BEAUTIFUL. Then I saw my guy, a young double tail. I can't really explain his color...its so bizzare. He has the DEEPEST red I have EVER seen, then he has some kind of blue...never seen that kind of color before. So course I got him :D They also had 2 crowntails, but they (along with the other LFS) always carry them so it wasn't a surprise. Oh, and he was $10.99. I would've got the other imbellis, because I will have a empty 3 gallon soon (guppy fry are moving out) but I only had $20 and my mom was already mad enough that I had got the one betta (even though she was the one that told me I should get the bowl at the yard sale... )!

Edit: Pics tonight!!!

Sounds awesome! I wish my LPS would carry something besides curling CTs and regular VTs. The only doubletail I've ever seen in real life was from WalMart!!

Good find on the bowl!

You know what really sucks, the fact that I can't even take a decent picture with a $700 dollar camera...

Edit: That turned out more horrible then I thought it would...I feel like crying. :-( So you all know what I'm going to say "THE PICTURE DOESN'T DO HIM ANY JUSTICE". The red color in him is much deeper, and the blue isn't really see-through (how did that happen...I don't really know :fun: ). He's not missing a chunk out of his anal fin, its just white. WHY, whenever I take a picture, it comes out blurry? :grr:

Edit again: Here's his 2 gallon bowl:

Well, it's coming out blurry because your shutter speed isn't fast enough to stop movement (the fishes or you if you are hand holding which I think you are). You either need enough natural light to get a faster shutter speed or you need to use flash. Sadly, flash will change his colors, too, so the best thing is to have enough natural light - if possible. :) Simple, really.

p.s. I would very much like a $700 camera and don't have one so I would gladly trade you for my much cheaper camera. :D

He still looks so handsome!!!

Try with the flash, but tilt the camera at a 45 degree angle so it doesn't hit the glass. Sometimes I use up all the room on my card just trying to get one decent pic! :S

My friend has the same aquarium and her betta loves it!!

edit: Oh, you could try taking a far away picture with the flash (sometimes they turn out better) and then crop it to just get the betta. This works really well if you take the highest quality pic with the largest amt of pixels.
