hello again members. about a month ago i purchased a second betta. he is a beautiful steel blue, hence the name: Remington. not long ago i noticed a "thing" on his ventral fin. i did some research and think it is cauliflower. the problem is that i cannot remember where i read about it, nor can i find the web page again (i forgot to bookmark it). so, what i'd like to know is this: am i correct in thinking that cauliflower is a viral infection and that Remington cannot ever be placed with other fish because the risk of infection is to great? i had wanted to place my two males in a divided tank, but...also, i think i remember something about removing the growth, but am not sure and do not want to do anything until i am positive. other than the "thing" on his fin, Remington is doing wonderful. he is healthy, active, eats well, responds well, ect. if i remember correctly, he should live a normal life, in spite of the growth. i just hate to see that thing on his fin. any help, suggestions, ect.?

i dont suggest trying to physically remove anything from your fish. you could easily injure the fish.

I don't have any constructive advice to add but looking at the pictures...

EEWWWWW!!!

thanks for the sites, nino. haven't decided what to do yet. going back to the second one to look at the treatment again, may try it. the original site i found had pics of bettas with cauliflower. i've got to find it again and remember to book mark it this time! by the way, i'm never buying fish from that particular place again. when my sis went to replace her betta that died she found floating fish in the tanks and no one made any effort to even remove them. some pet store, huh?

From what I've read, it's very rarely if ever fatal... I wouldn't mess with it.
