New Betta

hi all
new to the betta thing but got 1 today on impulse on cos i felt sorry for them, anyway at the moment i've got him in a critter keeper around 8 gal the thing is its plastic so thinking that maybe i won't be able to put a heater in it. i have got another tank with cory fry in it & another 27 gal tank with 5 mollys in it, now could the betta go in with the mollys or is that a bad idea ?
if not will be moving the mollys into the corner tank, the fry into the 27 gal tank & the betta will be able to go in the fry tank which is about 12 gal.

Mollys will be far too active for him and positively outcompete him for food, he won't be happy with mollys- personally i would put him in your 28gal cory tank if thats all its got in there, the adult corys will be fine with him and not bother him plus they won't have to share the same foods so furiosly .

yeah thought that he wouldn't be happy with the mollys. oh i just had a really good idea i will move the mollys out of there 28gal tank back into the corner tank then put the betta in there & eventually get more corys to go with him or wait till my cory fry are bigger then they can go with him. think they a bit small atm as they only 3/4weeks old

You should be able to put a heater into the kritter keeper, I've got a small 3 gallon plastic tank and its been used for a year now with one in.

I have three plastic tanks with heaters in. Really isn't an issue. It'd have to be turned way up to melt the lastic and by then the poor fish would have been boiled. So use a heater in there. Or move him if you want to. It's your call. I wouldn't leave him without a heater wherever he goes though. I see you're in the UK and with temps as they currently are he'll get cold.

yeah that was my concern about him getting cold, at the moment i've got him sat on top of 1 of the tanks so the heat from the lights keep the water warmer.
he seems loads happier now thats hes out of that bag.
the kids are wellhappy with him, they've been after 1 for ages
