hi,
just got a new betta a few days ago and have him on the frozen brine shrimp suggested. he will touch them but only after we leave the room and leave him totally alone. then he will sometimes take a few tiny bites. he will also come out and swim around but if we watch much he goes and hides. the room he is in is quiet since he's new, extra bedroom, no tv etc. he seems quite shy which is odd to me because our other one is aggressive and was interested in everything from the start. this is a little guy tho, only about 1 1/2 inches from nose to the back of his fin. he still looks fine, doesn't seem to have anything wrong with him that i can see. he's alone in a cycled 5 gallon tank with a corner filter (on very low), light, some floating live plants (our other one loves to sleep in them in his tank) and a heater set at 78. our other betta was so excited when he was first let loose in a big tank - swam around, he was a very happy fish, still loves to do races. this one seems to be a little leary of all the room. he will come to the glass but not often, any ideas and could it just be because he's so young?
thank you :)

it definately takes a while for a new betta to warm up to people. after a week when he startes to associate u with food he will always come out to greet u :D just takes time ;)
