New Balloon Molly

We bought two Balloon Mollies on Saturday and on returning home and getting them in the tank, we noticed one of them was alot 'rounder' than the other one!!! Just wondering if it is a girlie and if she could be pregnant.

Looks like a female to me but need a side view, the anal fin (the one near the bum) is rounded in females and pointed in males

Yep the anal fin is rounded and her dorsal fin isn't as big as the other one's. She looks like she is going to pop!!!!

Ye thats a girl for sure.

She will have fry at some point but it's very difficualt to tell with balloons when their close, sorry
How ever they do usualy give birth every 28-32 days or so.

Thank you. I did think she was a girl but thought I had better check having never had them before!!!! I didn't know whether it was normal for the femlaes to be rounder than the males or anything as the male we have is nowhere near that size ( bellywise) hehe

Nateraly the females are fatter yes, but the balloon are deformed fish and have been breed for their squat body shape, this make both male and females very fat.

Oh I didn't realise that!!! I have two Silver Molloies too!!!

thats ok, they will also cross breed, but you wi8ll only get balloon from is the mum and dad is the balloon.
