well i was going to get 6 adolfi corydoras this week. but needed to stock up on my fish food
so popped into my local pets at home were i saw 6 Sterba's Corys in a tank and the other tanks had dead fish in.
pluss non of the staff know what there doing.
as i had a spare tank and just got paid i got the 6 as i couldent just leave them there i though they would stand a better chance of survival with me  i got them a coconut cave with java moss on it and 4 amozon sword plants and 2 bunches of combo.
ill put some pics on in the next couple of days as i dont want to stress them and there just settleing in :good:

iv noteiced on a few of them that there dorsal fins are a bit tatty and riped will these
heal .
im gueseing its down to poor water quality should i treat them with a bit of meth blue do u think?

Look forward to seeing the pics :good:

The dorsal fins have most likely been nipped by the fish they used to be in with. With good water quality they will grow back no problem, no need to use meds :)

I had the same fin thing with mine.

I think it happen in the bag, corys have lots of sharp spines, they probably accidently caught each other. Mine are doing fine and I think it's healing a bit.

i saw 1 ov them had fin probs in the shop
but i knew if i left them there it would of been worse as all the other tanks had dead fish in them
they had some panda corydoras and the looked shocking one was dieing and looked white with its tale rotted away im now thinking of reporting them but dont know how to go about it ,
if i had the money and space id of bought the lot

Do keep the water very clean with frequent small water changes. And watch closely because tattered fins can be a sign of fin rot. If you see while edges or shredding or there seems to continue to be deterioration of the fins then treat for the bacterial infection that causes fin rot. Wilder wi;; help you with the meds.

hi jollysue
ill keep a close eye on them and do frequent small water changes as u sugest.
hopefully ill get some good pics on off the fish and there fins later today.

some pics

dont know if you can see the dorsal fins

Yes, barely, drewry. It looks like fungus or bacteria/fungus--commonly columnaris. Fin rot will show ragged fins. If they are ragged then most likely finrot. Either way I am inclined to treat. But you are in the UK, right? We have entirely different meds. PM Inchworm, Ian (Coryman), or Wilder. I do not fool around with columnaris or fin rot. The fish may have been sick for awhile from what you say and their resistance could be compromised. Like I said get some help from the experts don't guess.

Meanwhile, of course, keep the water at the highest quality. Don't worry. Lots of help around, and it is treatable. Do keep them in quarantine.
