Yep :) He is a nile puffer. This was just out of the packaging and very dark in colouration. He is settling well and exploring a little, he has lightened up somewhat too!

one of the fish I most want!!! csan;t wait to see how this one progresses and gets bigger etc

Very much of the same opinion as simon :) I know I want a puffer tank but cant decide between one of these as a wet pet or a group of SAPs...... will be keen to know how fast it grows, from what Ive read they are similar to oscars in speed right?

aw thanks guys, will definately keep posted how he grows. From what I have read they grow an inch a month for the first year then slow right down. As to the Fahaka and SAPs. (Again from reading and really good advice) Fahaka is more wet pet recognise like a oscar, whereas SAPs are buzzers! Let us know what you decide as either are exciting. I did pay a pretty penny for my cutie (just dont ask!) but we have minimised right down now from 5-7 tanks to one large for the fahaka and small 18" cube for dwarf puffs and loads of shrimps xx

Sounds like a nice plan :) Think Ive decided on the SAPs posting a thread about them now if you care to glance over it for me :)

Thanks for that peeps. @Wills get the thread up already  I have come sooo close twice to getting SAPS but ended up changing my mind. They are such cuties like little bumblebees, keeping an eye for thread and plenty of pics :good:

ha sorry lol as soon as I started typing it I decided I didnt want a second tank here yet.... the room just isnt big enough and its the only really usuable room (for now) If it were to go in here it would be a 2x2x2 but if I clear out the back room a bit and chuck the crap we have accumulated out that might work but I would worry that I wouldnt pay enough attention to them in there....... gah I dont know what to do :( I really want them but I know the cant go in my main tank.

No worries :) Dont rush into anything, if they wont work in the main tank dont go that way and really consider the tank for them as they need a lot of swimming room, you want to enjoy them too! I have had to consider the placement before and worried about whether I would pay enough attention, in the end the living room was being moved around and they ended up fitting perfectly. But I think if they had ended up out of the intended area I would probably make special effort though you can never truly say!
