Today I picked up a 55 gallon tank (US Gallons), two 24 inch hoods, a double deck metal stand that I can put my 30 gallon tank at the bottom all for $190 dollars. What fish would you put in? I really want African Cichlids in it, what else would you put in.

Edit-forgot to add that a good filter came with it.

After its cycled, I would have a community, with 3 large schools of tetras, a single angel fish, a group of some kind of loach, and a large school of cories. Don't know much about african cichlids...

6- to as many'll fit.

I'd engourage you to do a Cichlid Mbuna tank. I just set mine up and its awesome. The fish are really expansive though, at petco, assorted Africans are $16.99

With Mbuna (or africans..I think same thing)cichlids, your supposed to over stock, to even out agression. Do lots of research like that.

If it were me......

I'd get a sengal bichir, a couple of purple spotted gudgeons and a few african butterfly fish.

But, this is just me.............

It largely depends on what you like. Do you like one or 2 big fish, 4-7 medium sized fish, or a ton of luittle fish?

I'm not a fan on the tiny tim fish, I want fish like African Cichlids. I just don't know how many, would anyone reccomend any?

Depends. With africans, your supposed to OVERSTOCK to even out agression. I think this is one of the few familys of fish your supposed to over stock with.
Like I said, do tons of research. Post on the african cichlid forum since I only have 6 african so far, I'm sure they can help you way more..
