Hi!

It appears that MTS is going to set in sooner than expected :lol:

As we have only been involved in this Tropical fish frenzy (FW) for the past 6-8 weeks, I would welcome some advice on some tanks we have been looking at.

I would appreciate any good/bad experiences on the following tanks on our shortlist. Is there anything we need to look out for - ie: does one brand have components that breakdown more than others or is one easier to maintain etc? We realise that there will be differences in cost between them but we don't want that to be a deciding factor in our decision as we will save for longer if necessary.

* Juwel Rio 300 - 121x51x62 cm (300 litres) - Internal filter
(is it possible to easily remove the filter box from the inside of the tank as we would like to add an external filter instead and have more room inside the tank for fish :))

* Rena Aqualife - 121x51x71 cm (346 litres) - External filter

* Aqua One TruView 1230XL - 123x 51x 53 cm (300 litres) - Wet & Dry Trickle Filter

Alternatively, does anyone have any other tanks that they would recommend.

Many thanks in advance.

I myself, if money wasnt a problem, would go with the rena that you said, rena are excellent quality tanks, they have got aluminum hoods, external filter, and just overall great quality,

the juwel rio 300, is also a good kit, but like you say you would have to cut out the filter box, and replace, you could do this with the extra money that you would of spent buying th rena, but the rena has it all done, and more,

I wouldnt know about the aqua one, but I have seen then on the net, i would still say go with the rena !

Rena hard to beat

or have the Rio and keep the internal as well as the external, always good to have plenty of filtration and this way you have a backup ;)

Thanks for the responses guys - very much appreciated :)

If anyone has any further info on good/bad things about the tanks I mentioned or on the Juwel, Aquaone or Rena filtration/heaters etc then please get in touch.

Being new to this hobby, I wanted to gather as much info as I could (from the experts here :good:) before we part with a lot of our hard-earned cash.

Many thanks
