New 3 Ft Reptile Tank

well that narrows it right down.you are going to have to have a species that lives in a dry enviroment as the moisture of a humid enviroment would rot the wood. Then because its a heatmat that def rules Rankins out (smaller version of a beardie) because they need a basking spot bulb. Are you able to put a spot bulb and UV lighting in the viv?If not i would say Leopard geckos as most of the bigger lizards need UV lighting.
Or you could keep a snake or 2

its what i keep my bearded dragons in :D
get beardies there awesum!
google them.

:grr: It is far to small for even one fully grown beardy as stated in the other posts

I am sure there are lots of options but with it being your first it narrows it down a bit. As said your choice of snakes is much better.

Leos are cute but not really that exciting in my opinion. Anoles again are cool but not handleable, they make a good display though.

It is Cruel to keep beardies in a 3ft vivarium you have to bear in mind that they can be 18" long.
Beardies also need a basking light for heat not a heatmat that is dangerous they dig a lot and can tear the heatmat and be electrocuted
They also need UV lighting

there are several different types of geckos you can get for a 3 foot tank, it depends if you can find them - if you look around you might be lucky.
