ive purchased a great new tank and stand, but im not sure whether i need an extra bit to go between the tank and the stand, for supporting the bottom of the tank?

Stand in pieces still:

Now ive had a look in the "manuals" and it doesnt mention anything about needing bottom line support!?

Ive always done it in the past! (use a plank i mean)

What do you guys reckon?

This tank doesn't need any polystyrene or board on top of the stand as the glass is held above the stand by the frame.
I have the 530 litre version - great tanks.

Sweet! Thank you very much! i guess that also means u can see the underside of your tank!?

also....your stand will have a support beam going across the middle, as it should have 6 legs! Mine only has four legs.
Hence the concern. Is there not going to be too much pressure on the glass, the "floor" of the tank as its only supported on the edges of the frame?

That must look amazing!? You got any pics of yours? :)

I have a cupboard stand so can't see through but I've had many framed tanks over the years & it was quite handy being able to see the underside of the newfangled undergravel filters. This was after my tanks progressed to glass bottoms - I go back to the days of slate bottomed tanks.
In many ways framed tanks are more reliable than glass bottomed ones as the risk of a piece of grit causing a break is reduced. The frame is fine.
No pics of my effectline as it is currently on loan to a friend in her fish room - she had an Oscar rescue that was desperate for a home & I had a tank sat in the garage.
It is a stunning tank though - silver frame & graphite doors.

Aaaaah i see what u mean now, i understand. But it still doesnt quite answer my question! :*)

demonmagus, Check my signiture for pics, or u can do a google for "effect-line"

The thing with the frame tho is that i think its purely cosmetic and has no extra support benefit!

Im worried that the bottom will crack under the pressure because the tank wont be supported on a solid flat surface, as it will just be the tank on the stand!

The frame holds the glass - supporting all around the edge even though the tank is sealed from inside.
These tanks are safer than most and I've never known one blow. The frame is designed to sit directly on the stand.
