 I had 2 african clawed frogs, And one died, I wanted to know why he died, so I took him to my old science teacher * KNOW Thats gross* and he cut him open, He swallowed gravel, NEVER AGAIN will I use gravel.
Im hoping my other 1 didnt eat any now:(

I removed all my gravel, aware that it might cause the tank to do a mini cycle. So Ill be testing my water again every other day.
Since I dont want gravel , What can the good bacteria grow on??

ther may be a small amount less space for the bacteria but bacteria manly grows in the filter and u still will have it on the walls and floor so its all kool just sit back and chill

Sorry to hear about your loss, our two ADFs died over the holiday season when we weren't home

If your tank has been set up for a while, there should be plenty of beneficial bacteria in the filter to handle the new substrate.

Use sand instead. This can be a problem with dwarf frogs, but sand passes straight through them. This gives the bacteria somewere to live, but means the frogs still have substrate.
