Here goes
Fifey wants a netbook but what is better

the Dell Inspiron mini 10

or the

Asus Eee PC 1005HA Seashell

Personally I think the Asus is better but wanted another opinion

J

i hate dells...but the dell minis kick butt.....i think its all down to personal preference...i mean in my opinion the dell is a much better build then the ee pcs, but then ive heard good stuff about the asus netbooks, look at reviews there your best bet, and go from there

I have looked at reviews and both pretty much same under review
main PC is a dell at moment

but Asus seems to have more
vga output
battery life x3 of dell
other than that pretty much the same

not really heard much about asus as a brand

thats because asus have alway been more aftermarket stuff ;) if you want me to be honest...ive owned 4 of there motherboards for main pcs and there horrible compared to others lol, but my mum owns a laptop not the one your after but one of them, it runs ok batt last a good couple of hours.....i know it must sound im slating the asus brand but ive had such a bad exp with them that i dont trust any of there products anymore! they can be so unreliable...still ive heard nothing but good about there netbooks so hopfully they can prove me wrong eh let us know wot ya decide to get yea?

have you considered the samsung nc10? I did loads of research before buying mine and I love it, an amazing little machine, beautiful to look at, fantastic keyboard and screen (10"). Very fast on the internet, faster than my new desktop! I actually haven't used my desktop for internet use since I've had this.

Asus, waaayy better.
ditto...weve had 2 dells and an asus...the dells batterys were buggered after a year...the asus is 3 years old and is going strong!

This made me chuckle dell laptops and netbooks are not made by dell most are made by asus. the asus is better out of the two but i would get an msi it has the best battery arguably. I have an asus for the ssd drive makes it slightly quicker then the mechanical hdd alternative uses slightly more power aswell depleting the battery.

Just thought I'd add that I have a hp 2133, mainly for the durability and looks, but it also has fantastic speakers and screen and large keyboard. Only thing that lets it down is the processor, but its running Windows 7 smoothly enough for what I need it to do. Cost me £190

It is just a really nice looking piece of kit, and it looks the part with windows 7. And it'll put up with a few knocks.

HP have a newer model out now, with an atom processor. If it looks like mine and has a better processor then you can't go wrong.

i guess it truly is down to personal preference then huh

Well
she came back from Tesco with a laptop before I could take her to look at netbooks
its a laptop for £250 so cant argue with that ( end of line) ( emachine but a check of the web say emachine are acer)

had a shot and not bad for the money will take a bit to get used to Vista

I got the Asus EEEpc with SSD drive and then loaded XP onto it and upgraded the ram came to the mighty sum of 298 squid if memory serves as I had a spare copy of XP pro lying around. Runs well although slight niggle is that I had to disable part of the SSD as it was causing conflicts as the linux OS recovery tried to kick in as windows was booting up, just have to press F1 5 seconds after the power button and all is good in the world.

I realise this is bit old but been away for a while.
