I did my water change in my split 2.5 gallon last night. The usual, scoup Nitro out, in a cup he goes with his tank water... Clean the tank, make sure temp is exactly the same. Except this time... I went to put him back in the clean tank and he had ripped almost all his tail off! I couldn't find the peices either, so he must have ate them!
What am I going to do? He can't do this every water change? I'm going to have to take him out of the split tank and give him his own so I can get his tail back.
Little brat!

That's a tough one to work out.
I'd say if you have the chance to get him in his own tank in a relatively quiet dimly lit place, he'd recover pretty well.

Tail biting is my NUMBER one pet peeve. I have a beautiful crowntail boy right now that just ate the remaining scraggly rays that he had left.

It's very frustrating!!

I think I'm going to move one of the other guys from his 1 gallon aquaview into the split 2.5 gallon and give Nitro the empty 1 gallon. See how he does with that.
What really gets me is that I had just gotten his tail completely back into shape from before when he had tore it up on the old gravel I had..... Never ends with Betta's, huh? :D
