I can't stop watching my new fish. I'm so nervous that something is going to go wrong. Every little thing that they do makes me wonder "Is that normal? Is there something wrong?" Like earlier Flare was resting in his plant. He was just nestled in and resting in the leaves of his plant, and for some reason that freaked me out so I fed him to make him move. I know he was just resting...

Ok, just now I got freaked out again because he was laying on his side at the bottom of the tank, so I went over there and he got up and started swimming around. He was only resting, right? I'm still kind of nervous about that. Can anyone give me any advice to help me not be so nervous? What behaviors are normal? What are the things that I should look out for that denote that there's a problem?

Someone help me please, or I'LL die of stress. haha

Hi BrookeLea,
Relax, everything is fine with your new guy. The first time I saw one of my guys lying in his plant looking lifeless, I almost fell off the couch I was lying on. Every betta is different and do different things. You will know when something is truly wrong with him. Once you feed him quality foods and keep his water clean, he'll be a happy boy. Dont worry too much. You'll make a great mommy!

:) I've got a huge black BF HMx that is always laying on his side on the bottom. It still freaks me out at times.

I've noticed that my older fish tend to rest more and more now. I call it the middle age syndrome.

i rember when i had lightning,he always slept on his side i freaked out alot. i relized though he was just a werido

You know I think they like to freak us out on purpose

My white/blue HM plakat, Ice, spends a lot of time lying down in the gravel, but when I go near the tank he's up and about wiggling for me  he's such a cutie and my favourite, but don't tell the other bettas

Thanks, ya'll! I brought my computer into my bedroom last night (fish are in the livingroom) so that I would stop watching the poor guys and freaking out and waking them up every time they tried to rest. It's much easier not to worry about them when I'm not constantly staring at them.

If I'm like this with my fish...how will I be with my real children? haha Oh boy...

I'm sure they do. Goodness, the amount of times I've found one of them wedged behind the heater or floating by the plants... Or worse, when you can't see them at all.

my betta freckles likes to sleep nose down its kinda weird but yea he has been doing it since i got him (like 4 months ago)
