USA,
i have two male and two female bettas. My brother wants to breed them and I read about it in wuvs post about breeding them. But I'm nevous about it. I dont want the little gals to get hurt. And I dont want the blue one, Betty to loose anymore tail. But Theyve been side by side and Picaso made a big bubble nest, but I'm not sure if thyre ready or not. I just dont want betty to get killed, or anything like that.

i think they want to breed, but I just dont know. I want to breed them to. Its probly because Im new at it. I guess i'll wait a while so I get more prepared with the chances of her being hurt.

also, is there a way to tell maybe what colors the babys will have and what type of tail?

oh, and the final thing. it says on Betta Talk not to breed any old bettas. And that they are probly old ones from an LFS anyways. I know my females young because shes small , but I dont know about my male. And the girls a crowntail and the guys a combtail, its it okay to breed them? Howabout a crowntail and a veiltail mix thing?

if you mix a CT wth a VT you'll most likely end up with VTs carrying the CT gene, it's really complicated and reallyr eally hard to tell what the babies are going to come out as.

Well, bovoiusly the betats are going to WANT to breed, but i think it's hard work. I want have a hand at breeding mine too but i'm way too scared about them losing fins and getting wounded :/

i put mine in theyre tank, and they didnt even look at eachother so I took them out.

i think you should do some more research before breeding them. if they are from a petstore (mutts), there is no way of knowing what the fry will look like. you also have to think about what you are going to do with 50-500 fry.
and yes, of course they want to breed-that is what their instincts tell them to do. it is the goal of all organisms to reproduce.

i know that. Well i do have two crowntail girls, and a comb tail, and i think that the veiltail has some CT genes in it because it has the CT like top fin, i think I'll stay away from breeding bettas and breed some jewel cichlids instead when I get some. They wont be with the fish in the sig though.
