I rescued Neptune from a grocery store whom keep their betta in just horid conditions, I never expected him to live long, but he has been doing so well I startd to think he'd be just fine. He has had a constipation problem since that day I got him and I've never been able to cure him of it. Now I think it is killing him, he is very lathargic, even laying on his side occassionaly. How sad, he's such a pretty betta. I'm going to try to hatch some brine shrimp to see if it'll help, but at this point he isn't really eating. Poor guy. Well, wish me luck. :/

u right try feeding pea and see

Give him a cooked, deshelled pea cut in little pieces, and add a little bit of Aquarium Salt into his water. Is he having any trouble breathing? You might also want to lower the water level so it's easier for him to get to the top for air. Does he have any soft plants to lie on? If not, maybe go get him one. Good luck and keep us posted on Neptunes progress!

I tried giving him peas, but Neptune has always been afaid of everything, including peas. I''ve been adding salt to his water regularly. I doesn't appear that he is having trouble breathing, he just seems very tired. He does have a soft silk plant to lay on, though I think he is a litle afraid of it too. I saw some bubbles blow out of his gills, that isn't somthing I've every seen before in any of my betta and I thought that was strange. He was swimming around a little, but not much. Poor baby.

Do you think he could be old?
You could try daphnia.

He could be old. Ther eis no way of knowing. I would try daphnia, but for some reason it is very, very hard to find around here and by the time i got some, it'd probably be too late.

Bettabetta what the betta is doing is a sign it will die soon, sorry to say. Because my betta just died yesterday with the same symtoms you described. And
I even tried to feed him peas but he wouldn't take to it. And he just sat at the bottom breathing rapidly and not moving at the bottom, and he also laid on his side sometimes to. Sorry but he might die if he won't eat the pea. :dunno: :byebye:

You were right. It seems Neptune has passed on. :-( He died in the strangest manner, still on the bottom of his tank, fins slightly spead don't they usually float to the top?. At first I wasn't sure if he was really dead, but he is not breathing not has he moved in hours. It is so sad, but I had expected it to happen from the start. Though I am still sad for Neptune I'll probably not waste time finding a new rescue case. I hope his tank is safe to reuse, but I'm pretty certai he died of constipasion and not a disease.

They don't float immediantly...that's why you should be angry when you see them floating at stores....they've been in there a while by the time they float.

Sorry about your fish.

Yea :rip: mine died a wired way to his fins were half way spread out and he was laying on his side dead.
