hi, I'm just wondering how do neons breed, and will they breed by themselves like guppies e.t.c?

It takes pretty good water conditions to spawn them,
as well as
a good pair(or several)
their own spawning tank
and alot of dedication to fry etc

And no, they dont breed as easily as guppies and livebearers

Hemigrammus ocellifer is one of the easier tetras to breed.

NO egglaying fish is as easy as guppies. You may find they spawn readily, but the eggs may not hatch, and then if they do, the fry are much smaller and less developed then livebearer fry.

In this thread I described my breeding procedure for Tiger Brabs. This same procedure works for most barbs and tetras. Follow that with similar water parameters and H. ocellifer is a ready breeder.
