I have a mature Fluval Duo 800 with external filtration via a Fluval 204 and spray-bar. The tank has been running for nearly a year and has 4 Angels, 2 Bolivian Rams, 4 Clown Loach, 1 Clown Plec, 1 Fan Shrimp and 2 Armoured Shrimp. Everything has been fine apart from the sudden appearance of loads of pesky cone shaped snails. I thought I would try some Neons as the missus loves their colours and managed to get 15 small ones from my LFS for a bargain price after a bit of haggling. Well, by the time I got home one had already died, another had died overnight and over the weekend I lost another 3. The Angels are about 3/4 of the way to full size but a very peaceful. I have a feeling it might be the Rams that are harrassing the Neons and causing them to die from stress. I have noticed on the dead ones when removing them from the tank that there has been a bit of fin nipping but I've never seen it happen in the tank. The water parameters are all fine and stable with a PH of about 7.5. All the other fish are absolutley fine so why are my Neons dropping like flies??? :(

neons are often very sensitive, they can be hard to get settled. though i wouldnt be surprised if the survivors get eaten by the angelfish, neons are angels' natural diet.

Did you get a guarentee with the fish? If you did, take the dead fish and the guarentee and till reciept back to the store and ask them how long the fish had been in the store, what their water parameters are etc. It could be that you bought them a day or two after they arrived at the store, and being transported twice in as many days could be so stressful for them. Also, adding all 15 of them, added to the stress of the rams harrassment. It could be any number of things.

Well, this morning has been the scene of more dead Neon's. I'm almost convinced that it's the Angels as they appear to have turned a bit aggresive since the addition of the Neon's.

Looks like I'm just going to have to look into something else with a lot of colour to put in the tank. I'm pretty sure I want some Corydoras too but am keen to get some colourful fish in there. What are peoples thoughts on a Salvini Cichlid???
