one of my sixteen neons is swimming like its tail is very boyant. its almost vertical! its always trying to swim down, but constantly floating up again. its also looking very thin which i presume is because it cant eat? what do i do? apologies for the bad post, im in my van stuck in traffic!

hmmmm, not sure if it cud be that or not. are the others showing ne signs of this ?

how long ago did u test the water's ph, nitrite, nitrate and ammonia levels ? if u havent got a test kit, u mite wana get 1, or take a lil clean jam jar of water and take it 2 the lfs.

let me no how they are, and we can go frm there.

hi there MV

might be an idea to isolate if possible and do frequent w/changes, feed high quality live food if you can and maybe try treating with something like melafix.
.....could be a number of things - old age, swim bladder problems, internal parasites, one of the wasting diseases, neon tetra disease - can you post water parameters and any other symptoms

good luck with your neon

sue

all the tests from last night are within parameters, only one fish looks ill. i noticed it yesterday morning, but it may have been ill longer, as i have had a busy week at work. I feed live foods at least once a week, sometimes more. any ideas?

could be a swim bladder, forcing it up...

How do i fix swim bladder problems, a couple of the others seem a tad over boyant now :(

They even look a tiny bit dumpy? Sorta like the stomachs are too full....
