hi,
My tank is currently cycling but when it is done i was hoping on adding a small school of neon tetra's (after some other platies probably first) however i don't have a hardness test, but i know it is fairly hard water. My ph is 7.8. If i could acclimate them very slowly would they do alright, or is there a way to soften your water.
Thanks

Neons aren't hardy fish, they should be added to a tank that is mature and has been running problem free and fully cycled for 6 months.

i got my neons when my tank was about 2.5 months old, and i have a ph of 7.6, but i wouldnt put them in such a young tank again, i lost like 7 or 8 in the process of getting the 20 i needed. so its possible but i wouldnt recommend it this early, but the ph shouldnt be that much a problem. the just might not breed.
